Another
absolutely brilliant ROH contemporary production. The bleak story of the
controlling protector, his wife and the boy angel, whose heart she is forced to
consume before she makes her way up the stairs for her suicide was completely
engaging. The singing was majestic and the music by Benjamin completely arresting. It would be
great to read the text which seemed to be addressing several levels from the
literal recounting of a legend through to several metaphorical readings.
