This apparently accessible play stars Maureen Lipman as a
lady who has been somewhat subservient to her horribly strident children, who
see it as her natural role to help them out of all their pickles. Once widowed,
the worm gradually turns and she breaks out to be, as Carl Rogers might say,
the self which one truly is – a much more interesting person than the dogs-body
her children would wish her to be.
