Hello/Goodbye is a well-crafted play. It tells the tale of an introvert (‘needs space’) and
extravert (‘needs people’) who fetch up in the same (double-let, as in
double-booked) flat, fancy each other and end up getting married; then
divorced; then reconciled at the end of the play. A lot of the dialogue in the
first half (particularly hers) seemed distinctly dramatic but in the second act
seemed more normal. However, it did portray well someone with psychological,
and thereby interpersonal, issues of which they were largely unaware, coming
across as extremely forthright and self-centred.
